Standard Deduction 2024. Per the irs, the standard deduction amount for tax year 2023 (filed in 2024) is $13,850 for single filers, $27,700 for married couples and $20,800 for heads of household. These amounts are provided in the chart below.

For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction will rise to $14,600 for 2024, up $750 from this year; For the 2023 tax year, the additional standard deduction amounts are $1,850 for single filers or heads of household and $1,500 for married filers or qualifying widow(er)s.
